Site Event/Activity record EWE361 - HES Human Remains Call Off & Exceptional Discoveries Contract

A topographical survey of the cemetery and the extent of the damage caused was recorded. Locations of skeletal remains were recorded by survey and a catalogue completed before being reinstated. The spoil heaps were sieved for any remaining skeletal fragments then also reinstated across the burrows. Amongst the remains was a number of oyster shell fragments, fragments of mortar and two coffin nails, likely also dispersed by rabbit burrows. Though the damage was repaired the site is still considered at risk of damage from further burrowing.
