(NF 7854 6161) Dun na h-Ola (NR)
OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, 2nd ed., (1904)
Dun na h-Ola shows no traces of its original character and can only be identified as a slight mound near the centre of the machair. According to local tradition Loch na Paisg formerly extended southward, so as to include the dun as an islet within its area, until this end of the loch became filled by drifting sand at a comparatively recent period. (E Beveridge 1911) A brass brooch, octagonal in shape and found in Dun- naholla, is in the NMAS. (PSAS 1888)
E Beveridge 1911; Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1888.
The site of this dun is as described by Beveridge: merely an amorphous mound, c. 20.0m in diameter and 0.3m high, is evident.
Revised at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (J T T) 31 May 1965.
