Full Description
NF76SE 18 centred 7926 6315.
(Area : NF 7926 6315) Eilean nan Carnan, close to the shore at Illeray, Baleshare Ford, appears to have been enclosed by a wall along its edge: two small cairns are situated upon mounds near its north and south ends. E Beveridge 1911.
The appearance of walling around Eilean nan Carnan is similar to that round most of the neighbouring islets and is most likely a natural phenomenon.
The two cairns are too insignificant to be normal burial cairns, the one at the north end being c. 2.5m in diameter, the one at the south being merely a few stones heaped on a large boulder.
Visited by OS (J T T) 30 May 1965.
