Full Description

NF76SE 4 7817 6282.

(Area : NF 783 628) A large mound on the west edge of which are traces of a substantial curved wall, 4ft thick, is situated within a cattlefold at Bal-Illeray, half a mile north of Dun Mor, Baleshare. The mound is capped by the ruins of several cottages as well as some massive stones of an earlier period. Two of these, in particular, are symmetrical and of ogival shape, both with the same dimensions.
E Beveridge 1911.

A mound, generally as described by Beveridge (E Beveridge 1911), is situated at NF 7817 6282. Although the ruined cottages obviously overlie an older structure built of larger stones there are insufficient remains to enable further identification.
Visited by OS (J T T) 31 May 1965.
