Full Description

NF77NE 22 7623 7542.

(NF 7623 7542) The western half of Eilean an Acaire in Bagh Acaire, Vallay Sound, has, at an early period, been enclosed by a semicircular wall still distinctly traceable much below high-water-mark.
The remains of a drystone dyke of a later period traverse the island near its centre and continue southwards across the intervening beach.
E Beveridge 1911.

There are no traces of a wall to be seen round the western half of Eilean an Acaire and no traces were seen on the island of any artificial work other than the dyke described by Beveridge.
Visited by OS (W D J) 21 June 1965.

As described by OS. The boundary dyke is a continuation of the the large north/ south dyke that runs to Loch Fada na Gearrachun. To the north the dyke continues beyond Eilean an Acaire into the tidal zone in a northeasterly direction.
