The settlement is mentioned as early as 1429, and was cleared in the late 1820's.

There are the foundations of at least eighteen buildings in the area centred at NF 7426 7630. They range from 11.0 x 5.0m to 4.5 x 3.0m and are in association with enclosure.
The majority are bounded by turf-covered walls, the best-preserved having a maximum height of 1.0m

Thirteen unroofed buildings and two enclosures are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Hebrides, North Uist & Harris 1882, sheet xxxi). Seven unroofed buildings and an enclosure are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
