Full Description

NF77NW 14 c.728 753.

A stone 'celt' from Scolpaig was exhibited in Glasgow in 1888, on loan from Mrs McNeil. Her collection later passed to the late Mr H H Mackenzie, factor of the North Uist estates, whose large collection was donated to RMS (NMAS) in 1972. However, this item was not with the material given to the Museum at that time. (Further stone artefacts, including a macehead and an axe-hammer, from the collection were donated to RMS (NMAS) in 1978 - see NF 86 NW 24.)
International Exhibition, Glasgow 1888; J Close-Brooks and S Maxwell 1975.
