The settlement at Baleloch (NF 73 72), ruins of which can still be traced, is first recorded in the Judicial Rental of 1718 but was probably in existence by 1666. It was depopulated about 1815.

Apart from the remains of two buildings, at NF 7328 7288 and NF 7310 7280, which may belong to the original settlement, the buildings of the township of Baleloch are of modern construction and all but three are occupied.

Three unroofed buildings, a field-system (centred NF 732 729 and NF 732 737) and a head-dyke are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Hebrides, North Uist & Harris 1881, sheet xxix). Four unroofed, two roofed buildings, the fragmentary remains of the field-system and parts of the head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
