(NF 8597 5665) Dun Ban (NR)
OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, 2nd ed., (1904)
Dun Ban, an islet in Loch Caravat, Grimsay, is encircled by the remains of a wall: a squarely built pier possibly existed at the west end.
'This island is said to have been connected with the north shore of Loch Caravat by a causeway.'
E Beveridge 1911.
No trace of the wall or the causeway could be found: the 'squarely built pier is natural.
The island, 1.5m high, is obscured by dense scrub similar to that seen on other dun sites in the area.
