Surveying Details
-----------------------------

11 November 1977. A narrow ridge was observed, 350-400 feet (106-121 metres) long and lying on an orientation of 90/270 degrees. The bottom is fine sand and mud with marked scour. The site is probably a single isolated rock ridge, but could possibly be the much broken-up wreck of a sizeable ship. The echosounder gives a "50 feet" echo more consistent with a wreck than rock. The site was located 11 June 1977 at 57 33 07N, 008 25 30W (from Decca). The least depth by echosounder was 154 metres in a general depth of 158 metres. The side scan sonar trace indicates a height of 8 metres, and the depth of the scour pit to be 6 metres. Report by HMS HECLA, 30 September 1977.

Hydrographic Office, 1995.
