The Norweigian motor tanker ARNE KJODE was badly damaged by a torpedo from a German submarine on 12 November 1939, whilst en route from Aruba to Nyborg. 5 lives were lost. The vessel was later sunk by British naval vessels.

Surveying Details

24 June 1969. The position given is 58 51 00N, 008 07 00W.
3 March 1980. The fore part was sank at 59 05 50N, 005 56 10W. The aft part at 59 26 00N, 007 10 00W in 91 metres.
3 March 1981. The site was located on the 29 June 1980 and examined on 20 October 1980 at 59 05 22N, 005 55 43W. The least echosounder depth over the site was 71 metres in a general depth of 83 metres. The side sca sonar gives a height of 9.8 metres. The vessel lies on the orientation of 160/340 degrees on a sandy bottom.
