(NF 893 643) Settlement, depopulated by 1882.
OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, 1st ed., (1882)

In this area there are the remains of fourteen rectangular buildings or enclosures, varying from grass-covered footings, 0.3m high, to drystone walls 1.5m thick by 1.5m high.
The area is known as 'Carnish' and has been depopulated for at least 150 years.

Name changed to 'Ceithinis' by District Clerk.

Eleven unroofed buildings, two of which are long buildings, are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Hebrides, North Uist etc. 1882, sheet xl). Twelve unroofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
