Full Description

NF86SW 27 8259 6308.

The remains of a cairn, c. 13ft in diameter and containing some large stones, N of Loch Phobuill. A narrow spur projects several yds to the SW from the cairn.
E Beveridge 1911.

This feature was located at NF 8259 6308 and is a mass of loose stones, measuring c. 5.0m E-W by c. 4.0m N-S and 0.8m high, with the outline of a circular hut or shieling c.2.5m in diameter in its east end. What appears to be a stone-lined passage c. 2.2m wide extends SW from the feature for a distance of c. 4.0m, but this may be tumble from the structure. This 'passage' is joined to another circular structure 2.0m in diameter at its S end.
This is probably a shieling-type structure tucked into the slope and overlooking the loch. No trace of a cairn was found at the site.
Visited by OS (W D J) 9 June 1965.
