The steamship PARNU was in a collision whilst on passage from Barry to London. It was taken in tow but later sank.
Surveying Details

30 August 1843. A position of 11 miles off Cape Wrath was given or 58 27 36N, 005 48 24W approximately.

21 April 1970. The site was not found by HMS FAWN during area sonar search (one direction only) but an unexamined contact was found 58 27 12N, 005 49 00W.
3 June 1970. A wreck was located by our previous decca coordinates - (n scottish) f6.37 e68.37. The least depth was 105 in a general depth of 113 metres.

9 August 1984. The site was examined on 28 February 1984 at 58 27 21N, 005 48 57W using trisponder, echosounder and side scan sonar. The least echosounder depth ws 103.5 in a general depth of 111 metres. A scour 0.5 metres deep was observed. The side scan sonar indicated a height of 7.5mtrs, and length of 75 metres (246 feet). The vessel is lying with its keel orientated 060/240 degrees.
