Full Description
NF86SW 7 8078 6106.
(Area: NF 808 610) There are indications of a circular building near the centre of Eilean Mor, in the sound between Baleshare and Carinish.
It is known locally as Tota Sgroilleig, and has an interior diameter of 29ft: the remains of an outer wall on the west consist of two courses in a thickness of about 5ft.
E Beveridge 1911.
The feature described by Beveridge was located at NF 8078 6106. It consists of a natural green mound, c. 15.0m in diameter, with the unsurveyable remains upon it of a probable stone structure of no great age. It does not appear to be a dun or cairn.
The name "Tota Sgroilleig' could not be confirmed locally.
Visited by OS (W D J) 13 June 1965.
