Full Description

NF87NE 19 8958 7806.

(Area : NF 896 782) A probable cist on the tidal beach called Faodhail a'Chaolais, south of Port nan Long, consists of four rectangular blocks of stone apparently placed by human agency so as to form a 'massive rectangular erection', the whole being considerably larger than average. (E Beveridge 1911) It is not certainly of the 'short cist' type.
J V S Megaw and D D A Simpson 1963; E Beveridge 1911.

This feature, at NF 8958 7806, is a fortuitous natural arrangement of four large unhewn boulders, 0.9m maximum height and 0.9m thick, three of which form side of a rectangular area measuring 1.9m N-S by 1.0m E-W. The fourth boulder lies outside the rectangle.
Visited by OS (N K B) 22 June 1965.
