Full Description

NF87SE 22 8937 7096.

NF 894 711 Iron Age pottery was found during recent quarrying in a small mound successively occupied by a shieling and now a late-19th century house.
The pottery is in the N.M.A.S.
I A Crawford 1964; Information from Norman Johnstone, Lochmaddy.

The exact find-spot of the pottery was indicated, at NF 8937 7096, by Mrs Robertson whose husband dug it up in 1963.
It was found in a low amorphous mound in which were also found ashes and stones, suitable for building purposes, suggesting an Iron Age settlement site.
Visited by OS (N K B) 18 June 1965.

Obliterated by bulldozer during building extensions in 1977.
I A Crawford 1980.
