Full Description

NF87SE 6 8569 7481.

(NF 8569 7481) An evidently artificial mound or cairn is situated near the SE edge of the smaller Lingay, near the centre of Ahmore Strand. It measures about 20 by 6ft, with a westward spur 11ft in length (E Beveridge 1911) and is visible on A/Ps. (Visible on RAF air photograph 540/509: pt II: 3112-3: flown 28 May 1951)
E Beveridge 1911.

This grass-covered mound of earth and rubble-stones, 1.1m high, is oval in shape, and measures 12.5m E-W by 6.0m N-S. It is obviously artificial and, despite the presence of lazy beds adjoining, seems to be a burial cairn.
Surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (N K B) 16 June 1965.
