Full Description

NF96NW 12 9128 6826.

(Area: NF 914682) There is an irregularly built enclosure c.50 x 30ft upon Scaalan. 150 yards to the W of this at a more elevated position are two erect stones at its western edge. Within the enclosure were found potsherds and a lozenged-shaped iron rivet-head apparently of Viking origin. Another of the latter was found in a rabbit-hole on a hillock to the N of the cairn group (NF96NW 11).
E Beveridge 1911.

The enclosure described above was located at NF 9128 6826. It is built into the SE side of a rocky knoll and appears to be a stock enclosure of no great age, regardless of the finds found within it. The area 150 yards to the W of this enclosure was perambulated: one or two boulders were seen but nothing of two 'erect stones'.
Visited by OS (W D J) 26 June 1965.
