Full Description
NF97NW 4 9044 7795.
A large stone slab, 7ft 3ins x 5ft, lies among the ruins of several shielings on Beinn a' Chaolais, 1/2 mile E of Port Nan Long. Near it lies another, more than 5ft in length.
E Beveridge 1911.
Two boulders, of the dimensions given by Beveridge, are situated in the westernmost of a group of six shielings at NF 9044 7795. There is no apparent reason why these should be singled out from the many other large stones in the area.
Visited by OS (J T T) 26 June 1965.
Generally as described above; however two of the structures are of blackhouse size and shape, giving this site an added complexity that was not previously considered. Overall this site is in stable condition with two small areas of previous erosion visible on one blackhouse ruin. This cluster of structures is not visible on the 6" 1st edition map sheet or later editions and unfortunately this area on Reids 1799 map is missing.
