Full Description
NF97SW 2 9033 7071.
(Area NF 904 706) Between the sea-lochs Loch Minish and Blashaval, is an islet called, significantly, Eilean an Teampull, lying in the narrows which separate Collastrome from Minish Island. The remains of a building, said to be rectangular, within an oval enclosure, have been found. The island is accessible over a good causeway.
E Beveridge 1911.
The remains of the possible chapel are situated on the summit of Eilean an Teampuill at NF 9033 7071. They consist of grass-covered footings of a rectangular build- ing, 4.5 x 3.5m x 0.3m high, orientated E-W. No trace of the oval enclosure mentioned above could be found, but the vague remains of a small, 2.5m square, building were noted at the SW corner of the building just described, and which appears to be contemporary with it. A large scatter of stones was seen to the E of the building forming no set pattern.
Surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (R D) 22 June 1965.
