RCAHMS 1928.
Dunan Ruadh: The highest part of this rocky islet is surrounded by the remains of a stone wall, enclosing an almost circular area of c.21-23ft diameter. A small part of the outer facing wall (c.8ft thick) is seen towards the N.

On a rocky tidal islet are the remains of Dunan Ruadh, a dun, now largely obscured by blown sand. Traces of the outer wall-face can be seen, particularly in th NNW where it survives to 3 courses in height, indicating an external diameter of 14.1m. The inner face is visible on the W side, giving a wall thickness of 3.1m at this point.
