Full Description

NF98SW 13 936 829.

Kitchen-midden remains show on a piece of broken ground on the southern slope of Sand Hill. This is said to be the site of an earth-house which has been removed. Shells, animal bones and pottery fragments are to be seen and bronze pins have been found.
RCAHMS 1928.

No trace of kitchen-midden material was found in the area of NF 936 829. Numerous pieces of broken ground where the sand has been exposed, close to the shore, contain small deposits of shells, but no pottery or animal bones were noted. There are several irregularly shaped, grass-covered, stony mounds in the area around 936 832, which could possibly be the remains of enclosures.
Visited by OS (R B) 19 June 1965.
