A stone 'celt' found 'in an underground house' on the island of Berneray was exhibited in Glasgow in 1888, on loan from Mrs McNeil. Her collection later passed to the late Mr H H Mackenzie, factor of the North Uist estates, whose large collection was donated to RMS (NMAS) in 1972. However, this item was not with the material given to the Museum at that time. (Further stone artefacts from the collection were donated to RMS (NMAS) in 1978; they included a macehead and an axe-hammer - see NF86NW 24.)
