Full Description
NG09SW 1 0302 9492.
(Area: NG 031 949) A small cairn of stones (13ft diameter, and now reduced to 1ft high), is situated c.500 yards W of Borve Lodge on the summit of a slight knowe on the N side of a small burn, some 30 yards from the shore and 25ft above HWM.
There is also a rectangular enclosure (16 x 10ft) composed of large stone slabs, the northern side of which is 6ft S of the cairn. The structure has been much disturbed and probably only the N and W sides are in their original positions.
RCAHMS 1928, visited 1914.
The amorphous remains of a turf-covered cairn about 20.0m in diameter (not as described by RCAHMS), situated on a slight eminence at NG 0302 9492. Within the cairn debris, are several large slabs set on edge and a huge prostrate slab - probably the mutilated remains of a chamber with displaced cap-stone, but insufficient remains to define the plan. Surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (N K B) 4 July 1969.
