Full Description

NG09SW 7 0090 9314.

(NG 0099 9321 ) Norse, rectangular buildings exposed in sand at Scarastavore in 1951. Boat-rivets, Shears, bone pin etc. found. Information from T C Lethbridge (6" map) to OS, 1953.

There is no trace and no local knowledge of Norse-type buildings here though traces of walling have been uncovered during cultivation in sandy ground at NG 0090 9314, but no details are known locally. Lethbridge's siting falls in a low-lying somewhat marshy area, an improbable position for a dwelling.
Visited by OS (N K B) 4 July 1969.
