Steamship BARON ARDROSSAN, 3000 ton of Ardrossan. Master, McPhail. Bound from Greenock to Hull. Lost 30 Dec 1940, 0100am. Sandray Island, 9 miles from Barra Head Lighthouse, Minch. Fog signal sounding, wind force 1, sea quiet, fog & drizzle. Cause of wreck, fog. All 54 on board saved. General cargo.
