NF85NW 20 centred on 804 557

A crofting township comprising fifty roofed, two partially roofed and thirteen unroofed buildings is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Hebrides, North & South Uist etc. 1880, sheet xliv). Twenty-two roofed, two partially roofed and sixteen unroofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1972).

Uachdar post-medieval township, featured a drytstone dyke at NGR NF 8031 5575, … This was constructed of gneiss boulders 0.4m in diameter, the same width as the dyke itself, which exstended into the distance in both directions.
Two ruined, roofless buildings of probable 19th century date… The northernmost measured 12m by 5m, aligned north to south, subdivided into three, with walls extant to 0.5m in height and formed of drystone gneiss boulders. The southermost meausred 5.06 m x 4m, alilgned east to west, with walls extant to 0.5m except on the west side where 1.5m was reached. A third building further to the south…
