Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 5 May 1997

Aird township, a partially deserted post-medieval settlement to the east of the present settlment of the same name and south of Balivanich around NGR NF 7760 5440. The remains of a dyke were encountered, crossin gthe route of the lines at NGR NF 7763 5508 (between poles 8 & 9). These compirsed large gneiss boulders up to 0.5m across, largely grassed-over, and forming a 1.5m wide north to south alignment 33.5m long with a 2m wide gap 7m from the north end. The dyke petered out to the south, and it is recommended that vehicle access be routed around the southern end of this feature, which is clearly visible as a raised embankment with occasional stones along its length.
