A crofting township comprising fifty roofed buildings, one of which is annotated as a Free Church, two partially roofed buildings, eight unroofed buildings, several enclosures and some field walls is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Hebrides, North Uist 1882, sheet xxxix). Thirty-nine roofed, four partially roofed, nineteen unroofed buildings, several enclosures and some field walls are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 30 April 1997

This is a scattered linear settlement pattern laid out along the shore, which is essentially the same now as in 1881. Ther is no township nucleus at the co-ordinate given; it spreads out over a stretch in excess of 1.5km long. Other than remains of blackhouses, no archaeological traces were observed where the survey corridor passes through the township.
