A township comprising two roofed, three unroofed buildings and a head-dyke is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Hebrides, South Uist etc. 1881, sheet liii). One partially roofed, three unroofed buildings and a head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).

Reputed site of 17th-18th C. inn, and earlier nunnery, hence the name Airidh nam Bainne. The walls of the inn still stand. MML 24.2.2001
