Full Description
NF60SE 40 6845 0405
One unroofed building and a three compartment enclosure are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Hebrides, Barra 1881, sheet lxii). Two unroofed buildings and a two compartment enclosure are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 2 June 1997
G48 (NF685040) A remarkable standing structure, 46 x 8 m! It is divided into 7 sections, the largest 10.5 x 7 m. The northernmost section is quadrant shaped and southern is D-shaped. The walls are relatively narrow and entirely of stone (I.e. no earth packing). The whole complex may be a series of pens. The building stands alongside the stream, Allt Loch an Duin.
Branigan and Foster 2000, 39.
[It is presumed the above structure is the same as the unroofed building and enclosure as noted by the OS. CSB 4/2/03].
