A farmstead comprising one unroofed, one partially roofed, three roofed buildings and an enclosure is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Hebrides, South Uist 1881, sheet l). One partially roofed, three unroofed buildings and three enclosures are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1972).

This is also the site of the earlier settlement of Howbeg, as depicted on W.Balds 'Plan of the island of South Uist' (1805). Current aerial photographs show extensive remains of ruined buildings and enclosures over approximately an area of 200 ²m.
