A portion of arable land which is enclosed and the ruin of a house which was formerly occupied by one family.
Name Book 1853. (Book 12, 31)

A farmstead, comprising one unroofed building, a field-system and an outlying enclosure are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis Ross-shire 1853, sheet 6). One building annotated as an 'old shieling' is shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
