Full Description

What may be eighteen roofed shieling-huts and one unroofed shieling-hut annotated 'ruin' are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis Ross-shire 1853, sheet 6). Six unroofed buildings which may be shieling-huts are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 15 January 1997.

A group of sub circular structures are represented on the Chapman/ Gibbs map and are annotated 'sheals'. The location on the map represents these structures to the south of 'Loch More bat Loish', however the main concentration of sheilings in this area is along the west side of this loch. This area is quiet confusing with both a scattering of sheilings and lochs over a wide area; so this may account for some discrepancy.
