What may be six roofed and six unroofed shieling-huts annotated 'ruins' are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1853, sheet 3). Two unroofed buildings which may shieling-huts are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
The name 'Airighean nan Cuig Peighinnean' may suggest that this is a shieling of Coig Peighinnean' (Five Penny Ness) crofting township (NB56SW 19).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 24 June 1997.
