Buildings which form part of a crofting township, comprising four roofed buildings adjacent to the main Stornoway to Ness road, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1853, sheet 3). The main focus of the present crofting community, laid out adjacent to the main road is shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1992).
