What may be two unroofed shieling-huts annotated 'Ruins' are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Isle of Lewis Ross-shire 1853, sheet 4), but they are not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1974).

SABS 31: Ballantrushal shielings on 1st Edition map (1853) NB 37220 53470

All that remains of these ruined shielings is a low grassy mound, differentiated by the vegetation and low grassy banks. No walling or stonework visible above the turf. The mound is regular oval shape, 6 x 6m on the top, slumped to 9 x 8m, east to west.
