A township comprising one roofed building, which is annotated as a Mill (NB03SE 13.02), six unroofed buildings, five of which are annotated as Ruins and three are annotated as Mills (NB03SE 13.03, 13.04 and 13.05), and a head-dyke is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1854, sheet 23). Totarol shares its head-dyke to the N with the township of Erista.
Three unroofed buildings and part of the head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1974).
