What may be four unroofed shieling-huts, which are annotated as Ruins, are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1854, sheet 34), but they are not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 17 July 1997
Three beehive sheilings located in a sheltered flattish area comprising of rock outcrops, boulder field and peaty grassland near to the coastal edge. The fourth structure (northern most) is a smaller sub rectangular feature with little remaining above ground level. The sheilings are circular in plan, all seem to have smaller structures / annexes, located to the rear. Two sheilings are seen as a pair, with probable entrances facing south; the third sheiling is located next to the coast. Evidence of peat cutting is visible close by. All three sheilings have an approx diameter of 5m. All four structures represented on the 6" OS sheet are well reflected on the actual ground.
