Full Description

NA92SE 12 centred on 995 208

What may be a township comprising eight unroofed buildings and a head-dyke is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1854, sheet 34). Only the head-dyke is shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 17 July 1997

The last phase of settlement at this location comprises of a ruined blackhouse, a circular garden enclosure and a byre and reflects a farmstaed. Current aerial imagary (lidar) also shows lazybeds in areas covered by heather to the northwest and in the field area to the southeast. The peninsula is enclosed by a substansial drystone dyke. The main grassy area lies over machair sand, other features are visible poking through the grass and it seems highly likely that there is earlier buried settlement evidence at this location.
