A single unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1851, sheet 20). The town of Stornoway has expanded and now occupies the site as shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1985).

Goathill Road
'This road links Goathill and the town and possibly marks the route of an older trackway. A cartographic source refers to a settlement on Ghoathill, but whether it ever existded is unclear(see pp 31-3).'(E.Dennison and R.Coleman,1997,70)
