An unroofed building, which is annotated as a Ruin, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1854, sheet 23), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1974).

Shieling
this pair of structres are approximately 10m apart at the southwest corner of the unnamed loch immediately to the south of Loch Steishal.  They are both sub-circular and measure approximately 5m in diameter.  Being constructed of turf and pebbles, these sites have severla associated walls of small stone that jut out onto the unnamed loch.
