Full Description

NB03SW 27 0323 3141

An unroofed building which is annotated as a Ruin and as a Corn Mill is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1854, sheet 23), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1974).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 28 August 1997

A dyke was noted at NB 03248 31338, running west-southwest from a small loch, bending to the north side of a small knoll and then turning sharply back west-southwest to run upwill. This feature was very dilapidated and largely mossed-over, but still stood in places to 0.4m in height and a similar width. The dyke appeared to respect the course of a stream running down to the loch until at the knoll the stream crossed through a gap in the dyke. On the northern bank of the stream at this point stood an additional short right angle of dyke standing to 0.5m in height. It is possible that the stream might have been adapted as a milllade, with the right angle representing the remains of a horizontal mill. The main dyke continued uphill for ove 100m.
