Full Description

a headland on the South Ford in Benbecula is known as Rubha Sgeir na Biorlinn, following a local tradition that it was the site of the sinking of a post-mediaeval birlinn in a severe storm. The wreck is said to have been occasionally visible following severe storm or tidal conditions, particularly at the end of the nineteenth century, when some '30-40 ft of her gunwale' was visible (Press and Journal 14.2.1998).
