Full Description

The remains of a blackhouse were encountered at NB 03395 31791. These survivied as grassed-over banks with occasional protruding, heavily-weathered basalt boulders. The building footprint measured 14.1m northwest to southeast, and 6m northeast to southwest, and stood to 0.3m high above the present ground surface. A 2m square internal room was noted on the western long wall, with a possible entrance in the eastern wall opposite.
A dyke was noted on the southeastern edge of a canalised stream or ditch running southwest to northeast for 23m before petering out. This was vestigial for the most part.
