Full Description
'About 1839,St Peters Episcopal Church was built,across the road frome the future Free Church seminary and school on Francis Street.Further dissension resulted after the church Disruption of 1843 and the further emergance of the free church.'(E.Dennison and R.Coleman,34).
'On the other side of the road is the Episcopal Church,erected probably in 1839.Containing many interesting nineteenth -century features,it houses a bell,said to be inscribed by Te Deum Laudamus 1631.The tradition is that this was the town bell.If so,it was probably originally housed in the seventeenth-century tolbooth.'(E.Dennison and R.Coleman,62).
