Full Description

SU 7:
Located at 95 metres OD immediately to the south-east of SU 6 this oval cellular structure is constructed of stone walls with earth core against three large bedrock erratics on its east side. It measures 7.3 metres from north to south and 6 metres from west to east and has a possible entrance between two of the erratics in the centre of its east side. The walls are faced with orthostatic stones standing to a height of 0.5 metres and are up to 1.4 metres thick.
Interpretation: The formation of the walls of this structure from stone with an earth core suggests that the structure was for human habitation rather than for use in stock management. However the location of wall SU 9 running up the slopes to the east towards the entrance to this cell might suggest that the structure was subsequently used to funnel stock into the interior.
