Full Description

SU 8:
This sub-rectangular yard is formed on three sides by a fragmentary turf wall, supported in places by orthostatic stones. Its fourth, south-western side is formed by a small burn running from north-west to south-east. The yard is orientated from south-west to north-east and measures 23.5 x 19.5 metres and has no discernable entrance. It is located immediately to the north of blackhouse SU 10 and may be related to that structure.
Interpretation: This typical yard area, forms the kale/stack yard for blackhouse SU 10, part of the wider Baile A. It is irregular in shape and larger others seen in the vicinity it must have suffered regular flooding from the burn.
