Full Description

SU 13:
This area of feannagan runs in two directions. At its northern end the rigs run from north to south across north and north-west facing slopes covering an area of 1420 square metres. At its southern end the rigs run from north-east to south-west over south westerly facing slopes covering an area of 977 square metres. The area of irregular shape and is not clearly defined except for on its south west side where it is bounded by dyke SU 21
Interpretation: These feannags are typical of the medieval/ post medieval/ pre-crofting cultivation remains seen in this part of the Western Isles. They are low in height and regular in direction, wave length and general size, but are more rounded in and slightly narrower in width than rigging thought to be later, crofting, in origin.
